
Program on Alternative Development Movement for Alternatives and Solidarity in Southeast Asia (MASSA)
This 6th conference hosted by MASSA will be held from November 11-13, 2025 at Siem Reap, Cambodia. ASEC is a member and has encourage ASEC members to participate. The theme of this year’s conference is “Cross-Border Solidarity: Building Peace, People’s Economies and Alternative Development in Southeast Asia”.
The Malaysian APPGM SDG secretariate is sending two staff, Ms Hirzawati Atikah & Mr Vikneswaran for this conference and a few others from ASEC partners will be there too.
On Oct 1, 2025 Mr Ryan Martinez moderated a preparatory meeting which was also attended by Hirz and Vicky. The meeting focused on finalising the conference theme, programme structure, and logistical arrangements.
Dr. Eri Trinuri Adhi (ASEC) proposed for APPGM-SDG/MySDG Academy play a facilitator role in one of the sessions, particularly to share Malaysia’s achievements on SDGs through the Social Solidarity Economy (SSE) approach. Further discussions will be held with Dr. Eri and the organisers to determine the type of facilitation required.
The organisers will also support APPGM-SDG in arranging local community project visits as part of the conference activities.

Discussion on Cambodia situation (why the conference is taking place here) and relevant regional issues that broadly affects the organizations membership and grassroots communities |

Who is MASSA
MASSA is The Movement for Alternatives and Solidarity in Southeast Asia. It aims to identify movements that are resisting mainstream development and promoting alternative practices by grassroots communities, and link these to form the building blocks of a people’s alternative regional integration in South East Asia. ASEC is a member of MASSA.
