The two-day ASEAN SDG-SSE Forum held from May 22 and 23, 2025 at Swiss Garden Hotel focus on drafting an ASEAN level roadmap in a participatory was. 120 participants a majority for Malaysia but sizable representation from Philippines as well as participants from Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam contributed to this process. Roadmap

The drafting committee comprised of Prof Datuk Dr Denison Jayasooria, Dr Eri Trinurini Adhi (Indonesia), Dr Ben Quinones (Philippines), Prof Dato Dr Rashila Ramli and Dr Victor Karuna (Thailand/India) agreed on May 23, 2025 to complete the task within six months and circulate the document for concerns agreement.

Twenty organisation ASEAN signed an MoU with ASSEC and MySDG Academy to implement the Roadmap and allocate resources for the creation of an SSE community in South East Asia.

ASSEC members participated at key SDG-SSE Conferences in 2024 and 2025. In both these held in Malaysia ASSEC Malaysia partners played a major role.

2024 MySDG International Conference 2024: This conference was held from 26 to 28 January 2024 at East Inn Hotel, Petaling Jaya, Malaysia. There are 16 videos of this conference.

2025 ASEAN SDG-SSE Conference: The ASEAN SDG-SSE Community Roadmap (2026-2030) held at the Swiss Garden Hotel, Kuala Lumpur and hosted by MySDG Academy and ASEC.

ASSEC members play a key role as resource persons and trainers in SSE capacity building programs at High level political forum (HLPF) on SDGs with a focus on SSE. They also participate at conferences and workshop on SDGs and SSE.

ILO country briefs from the Social and Solidarity Economy project in Asia.

Social and Solidarity Economy remains relatively a new concept in Asia and the Pacific region, and major questions remain regarding its definition, measurement, size, impact, potential, and limits.

To enhance the understanding on the SSE in the region, the ILO and Seoul National University (SNU) carried out research to map the organizational landscape of SSE in six countries in Asia (Republic of Korea, Japan, China, Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines).

This series of briefs presents the SSE landscape for six countries in Asia, policy challenges and preliminary pathways for strengthening SSE in the region. The research is part of the ILO project “Strengthening Social and Solidarity Economy (SSE) Policy in Asia,” implemented in partnership with the Korea Social Enterprise Promotion Agency (KoSEA) and supported by the Korean Ministry of Employment and Labour (MOEL).

The briefs are available for the Introduction, China, Japan, Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Indonesia (English, Bahasa Indonesia), the Philippines, Republic of Korea and Conclusion.

Encyclopaedia of the Social and Solidarity Economy.

The Encyclopaedia of the Social and Solidarity Economy, A Collective Work of the United Nations Inter-Agency Task Force on SSE (UNTFSSE). It is edited by Ilcheong Yi from United Nations Research Institute for Social Development (UNRISD), Switzerland. Denison Jayasooria is among the team of ten editors.

The encyclopaedia contains 57 articles. This book can serve as a reference tool for policymakers and academics. It contains information and knowledge on a wide range of topics associated with the SSE, is key for fostering the development of the ecosystem.

Publication of an SDG-SSE book.

This is an important resource material on SSE in Asia. Papers presented at the conference in Malaysia held from 26 to 28 January 2024 hosted by the MySDG Academy in partnership with ASEC. ASEAN members of ASSEC were active in this conference. Dr Ben and Dr Denison co-edited this book with 15 chapters including policy papers and case studies.
