ASEC partners at the 3rd Nyeleni Global Forum

Six delegates from ASEC are among the 22 participants from RIPESS who are gathered together from September 6 to 13, 2025 in Sri Lanka

Among them are Judith and Sandar from RIPESS, and from ASEC are Kumar of ASEFA of South India, Bola from Nepal, Chandra from Indonesia and from Malaysia Ms Darshini.

The Nyeleni Global Forum, is one of the world’s largest and most diverse gatherings of grassroots movements. Over five days more than 700 delegates from over 100 countries have converge to build a unified, grassroots-led political vision and action plan to address the intersecting global crises of our time.

A unique feature of the Nyeleni Global Forum is the representatives from grassroots movements. Forum brings together: –

Peasants, Indigenous Peoples, fisherfolk, pastoralists, workers, feminist movements, environmentalists, migrants, urban food insecure, consumer groups, researchers, health activists, and artists,

It is without doubt this Forum stands out as a global platform of resistance and solidarity, grounded in the principles of food sovereignty, grassroots feminism, agroecology, social, gender and climate justice, peoples’ and energy sovereignty, and economic democracy.

This Forum seeks to build momentum towards a collective vision of systemic transformation—from the grassroots, for the planet, and for future generations.


Program at the Forum

As explained by Kumar there are four key aspects: –

First, an introduction covering Nyéléni and the purpose of the 3rd Forum Meet, emphasizing food sovereignty, grassroots engagement, and global solidarity.

Second, the Regional Meeting: Participants gathered by region to discuss local priorities, challenges, and strategies, fostering stronger regional collaboration.

Third, International Network Forum Meet: Key networks and organizations shared insights, aligned efforts, and built cross-border connections around shared goals. However, the RIPESS meet met later due to the limited number of translators.

Fourth were sessions focused on ethnic and cultural perspectives.


Voices and experiences

Stories from the Social and Solidarity Economy for Food Sovereignty is documented by RIPESS. It’s a focus on stories: Small seeds of solidarity that bloom in each community is now part of a global movement for food sovereignty.
