Denison appointed as member of the Strategic Advisory Team (SAT) of the Gambia-2026 Summit- A post Doha Social Summit Global NGO initiative.
Melvine Wajiri, the Chair, NGO Coalition for Social Development in an email letter dated March 5, 2026 has invited Dr Denison Jayasooria as a member of the Strategic Advisory Team (SAT) of the Gambia-2026 Summit.
Melvine Wajiri wrote “Prof Datuk Dr Denison Jayasooria, It is my honor and privilege, on behalf of the NGO Coalition for Social Development and the Organizing Committee of the Gambia -2026 Summit, to formally appoint you as a Member of the Strategic Advisory Team (SAT) for the forthcoming Gambia -2026 Summit”.
He went on further to write “in recognition of your leadership, professional accomplishments, and commitment to advancing regional and global development, the Organizing Committee is pleased to invite you to serve on the Strategic Advisory Team, an esteemed body tasked with providing high-level strategic counsel to the Summit Secretariat and Organizing Committee”.
The Gambia -2026 Summit (Oct 12- 16, 2026) is envisioned as a premier international platform convening distinguished leaders from non-governmental organizations, government, business, academia, development stakeholders, parliamentarians, civil activists, trade unions, and civil society to continue advancing strategic dialogue, mobilizing investment, recognitions achievement, and foster partnerships that support climate governance, social development and community transformation worldwide.
Denison met Melvine at the Doha Social Summit last year and since then have been in close touch. Since the appointment Denison has been participating in regular online meetings hosted by the organising committee led by the Chair, NGO Coalition for Social Development, Mr Melvine Wajiri and the local national organising committee, Malong Sambou, who is Executive Director, Mbolo Association, Gambia.
