
Annachi, Sri S. Loganathan ji, passed away on April 28, 2026, at 6:52 PM. We remember his services to humanity. He graduated in History from the Madurai University. He joined in Bhoodan (land gift) Movement of Vinoba Bhave in 1960s
His lasting contribution is ASSEFA which he co-founded in 1969. They work in about 11,000 villages and with about 5,000,000 people. They are involved in the integrated ASSEFA development model.
ASSEFA’s mission has been to improve the economic, social and cultural status of rural communities and enhance their skills and self-management capacity as well as to identify and implement initiatives and actions that can contribute to reducing environmental degradation, social injustice and discrimination and promote the creation of non-violent, peaceful and harmonious communities in rural India.
ASSEFA’s numerous projects such as agricultural development projects, dairy livelihoods projects for women and the maternal health project. They have meaning and relevance to all.
Annachi, as he is fondly called, draws his inspiration from the philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi, and directs his energy to fostering local self-reliance. ASSEFA is one of India’s largest NGOs working in eight states.
Sri Loganathan is a revered elder, he touched countless lives through his wisdom, simplicity, and unwavering commitment to service. His loss is deeply felt by all who knew him.
His mortal remains will be kept at the Annapoornai Temple Campus in Thonugal village for the public to pay their last respects. The final rites will be conducted at 4.00 pm tomorrow 29 April 2026
